The pain of a traumatic experience can feel overwhelming. It can have a severe impact on our ability to cope with what’s happened, and effect our sense of self. It’s especially difficult if you have to face it by yourself. Fortunately, you don’t have to.
Getting help is the best thing you can do for yourself or your family!
Meet Michelle Anhang. She’s a certified coach who specializes in mental health support for individuals and families.
Michelle’s journey started when she married her childhood sweetheart. Unfortunately, her husband suffered from mental health challenges that led him to commit suicide. It was a devastating, traumatic experience for Michelle.
What made it even more difficult was she was left alone with their two young children to look after.
Michelle is a remarkable lady and I feel truly blessed she’s agreed to share her story and wisdom with us on the Alkimia Success Show.
Some of the main topics we discussed during the interview include the following:
6:30 – What made Michelle become a coach.
The idea of becoming a coach started when a friend of Michelle suggested she could be a great coach. She had a good, steady job at the time but decided to go for training to become a coach.
In the words of Michelle, her job wasn’t nourishing her soul.
One of the things she was told during her training really struck a chord with her, namely:
“Don’t just tolerate life”
Michelle realized that’s exactly what she’s been doing for many years.
14:20 – Therapy vs Coaching.
Many people are curious about how coaching is different from therapy.
Michelle explains it as follows:
Therapy looks at where you are today and how did you get here.
Coaching looks at where you are today and where you want to be.
Although coaching also looks at the past, such as identifying the origin of limiting beliefs, it’s more focused on the future.
22:45 – Her #1 piece of advice.
Michelle’s #1 piece of advice is: “Don’t feel like you need to do it alone.”
She explains it’s good to talk to someone who can support you and help you process the pain, and confusion you’re experiencing. And, if you have kids, they also need to get the right support.
26:20 – The advice she would give her younger self if she could go back in time.
If Michelle could go 20 years back in time, this is the advice she would give her younger self:
“You’re going to be okay, and you’re going to be more than okay. Just hang in there and trust your intuition.”
31:19 – What success means to Michelle
For Michelle, success is waking up every day feeling excited about the work she does.
It was a real privilege talking to Michelle! I look forward to getting her back on the show in the future!
